Newport Infant School and Nursery is built around a circle with six spacious key stage 1 classes and a large Reception hub with a separate additional classroom and engaging outdoor learning area. The nursery is linked to the school and has it’s own outdoor area. The school hall is used as a canteen at lunchtime, for PE and comfortably seats all of our children for whole school assemblies and performances.
Each Key Stage 1 classroom opens out onto the outdoor area around school where we have a raised planting bed for each class, a bespoke forest school area with seating and a zoned playground which includes a fenced adventure play area. During the summer months we have access to a large playing and sports field on the school site which affords us plenty of room for children to run and play and to hold sports events.
Our school is accessible to adults and pupils with disabilities. It is mainly a single storey building with part of it having three steps due to the sloping nature of the site. Therefore, we have a working wheelchair lift, which is serviced every year.
