Our School Day is 8.45-3.15, which ensures we meet the legal requirement to be open 32.5 hours per week.
Our teachers open the classroom doors at 8.45am prompt. Key Stage 1 pupils enter the classroom through their outer doors. Reception pupils go to either the main entrance (Rabbit and Fox Class) and Woodpecker children go to the outer door nearer their classroom. The children are welcomed into class by their teacher and Teaching Assistants.
Morning break is staggered so the children are with their year group, and lasts for 15 minutes. During this time they will be offered a piece of fruit as a snack.
Lunch runs from 12.00pm to 1.15pm for Reception children and from 12.30pm to 1.30pm for Key Stage 1 children.
We usually hold our assembly in the afternoon, and this lasts approximately 15 minutes.
The school day ends at 3.15pm when children are collected from their classes in the same place as they were dropped off in the morning. Children are handed to nominated adults at the end of the day by a member of staff.
The High 5 Club runs every morning before school and every afternoon. Additionally we offer some after school clubs to develop the enrichment opportunities of the children.
There is limited parking along the road on which school sits but there is significant congestion at peak times of the day so we advise parents to park a little away from the school and walk in. We provide a covered bike shelter and a scooter park for children who wish to travel to school in this way.
School Closures
If bad weather, such as snowstorms, stop school from opening, parents will be informed via Weduc, Class Dojo and via Radio Shropshire . We endeavour to make a decision as early as possible, which will support you in your childcare needs. The safety of the pupils, parents and staff is paramount in our decision making. We usually make a joint decision with Newport Junior School.
