Newport Infant School was built in 1952 and has served the town of Newport for 70 years, offering high quality education for children aged 4 to 7. Over the years it has been significantly extended with new classrooms added to accommodate the population growth and a children’s centre facility is also set within the school. There has been a private Nursery and Wraparound Care company operating on the site for almost 20 years which has recently become part of the school offer. In 2022 the school became Newport Infant School and Nursery, offering education and care to children aged 2 to 7. The wraparound care facility has been renamed the High 5 Club, a name chosen by the children who attend and this operates on both the Infant and Junior School site, supporting breakfast and after school care for children aged 4 to 11.
The school has strong links with Newport Junior School, for which we are the main feeder school but we are also part of a strong cluster of local schools with whom we work closely.
We are proud of our place in the community of Newport and build the history of the town into our curriculum offer as well as participating widely in community events.
Here we are celebrating our 70th Birthday, along with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
